GW Engineering PhD Student Publishes Op-Ed on Use of AI in Global Development

Haneen Al-Rashid, a Ph.D. student in Engineering Management and a Fellow with GW’s Co-Design of Trustworthy AI Systems Program, published an op-ed in Devex titled, "Opinion: AI in global development is more than just a set of tools." The article explores the uses of artificial intelligence (AI) in the international development sector, focusing on its opportunities and challenges. 

Here is an excerpt from the article: “AI is not just a set of useful tools. AI is a disruptive technology ecosystem and enabling environment, with the potential to create job opportunities, achieve development objectives, and work toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals,” said Al-Rashid.
